EL PASO, TEXAS - After a three month break from tournament competition the #1 ranked Midland College golf team will return to play when they tee off in the 2022 Western New Mexico University Cactus Thaw Invitational. The 36-hole event will be played at the Painted Dunes Desert Golf Course in El Paso, TX (Par 72, 6,925 yards).

The Chaparrals join Western New Mexico University, Regis University, Fort Lewis College, UT-Permian Basin and UTEP. NJCAA member colleges entered in the event include: Odessa College "B", New Mexico Junior College, New Mexico Military Institute and the Chaps.

Midland College will enter the team of Samual McKenzie, Gregor Graham, JT Pittman, Adam Coull and Angel Guerra along with individual competitors Bladen Samaniego, Lance Salisbury and Kyle Kistensamy. Pittman of Monahans, TX is returning to the Chaparrals after transferring to UNLV in the fall semester. Pittman was a 2021 First Team NJCAA All-American for MC.
Midland College is currently ranked #1 in the country among men's two-year college teams in both the NJCAA Men's DI poll and the GolfStat.com rankings. In the Golfstat.com individual rankings MC's McKenzie, Graham, Samaniego, Coull, Alfie Robinson and Aston Castillo each rank in the Top 20 players in the US.
